Celebrities: Will they ever quit complaining?

Is it just me or are way too many pop stars bitching about internet piracy?

I recently saw a series of commercials on MTV featuring artists like Britney Spears and Nelly telling fans to go out and buy their CDs because they work really hard on them and they need the money because it is their job. Am I the only one who finds this utterly laughable?

Both Britney spears and Nelly sold millions upon millions of CDs in their first months on the charts and Rolling Stone reported that Spears has a $100 million bank account! This hardly seems like someone who needs my $17.50!In fact, she ranked in the top three in Forbes list of the richest celebrities.

Nelly has no room to talk either; I saw his episode of MTV Cribs. He has several customized cars and a huge house in Missouri. I refuse to believe that if a few thousand people download Hot in Herre off the internet he wont be able to feed his family. I mean come on! Obviously enough people have purchased his CD to keep it on the top of the charts for weeks.

So what do they have to complain about? I think the entire thing is absolutely absurd. No top-of-the-charts superstar has any right to tell me how to spend my hard earned money. If I want to download their songs, I should be able to. After all, not everyone can have three customized Escalades and a movie theater in their house.

They need to start acknowledging that their fans are the only reason they are able to afford those things and not be holding minimum wage jobs back in their hometowns.

Just look at some of their backgrounds. Most of them never went to college, or even finished high school. Meanwhile millions of Americans are working their asses off to be able to pay rent on their 800 square foot apartment, or taking midterms or finals in college or high school.

The main problem seems to be the astounding lack of good music on the market today. Why on earth should I buy a CD for almost $20 if there are only one or two good songs on it? The point is Im not going to do it. Until artists stop making the same manufactured, formulaic, run of the mill music, people are going to find it much easier to get the few songs the like off the internet.

In brief: artists quit bitching! Its only making me despise you more! Until you get off your ass and put more than two good songs on your albums, you can forget my money. Im sticking to free music from now on. Viva la revolucion!
