Clive and Jasmine and the bushy dwarf virus

Friday, September 27
Salt Lake City

The raspberry yield around Bear Lake was affected by a virus,
which means an economic hit for that corner of northern Utah. Some growers might try to get along a few more years with plants infected by the bushy dwarf virus. Others are beginning anew. Since the virus is carried by bees, new plants, which take three years to bear fruit, will likely become infected, officials said.

"Oh, Jasmine, I just love Bear Lake in the fall!"
"As do I, Clive. Just look at the lake! The water, so blue! Just look at the sky! The clouds, so white and fluffy!"
"Do you remember what we did last year, my darling?"
"Of course, my love. We ambled contentedly through the towering rasberry bushes and plucked the ripest berries. How delicious they were!"
"And the bushes were so tall and green and leafy.....!"
"And the raspberries so red and large and succulent!"
"If I remember they should be just over this hill."
"Let us run, Clive! Let us run with the wind rushing through our hair as we prepare to partake of the luscious giant raspberries!"
"Yes, yes! Here we are. I don't see them .....I don't understand. There are some bushes, but....they're so small.....so small"
"And the berries. So petite, so miniature"
"And what's that noise?...That sort of buzzing...oh no.....it's sounds like....
OW! Oh dear God. There are bees here! OW!"
'Oh no, but no.....it can't be. OW! But it all adds up! The stunted bushes, the miniscule berries,  the bees!"
"Oh no, you can't mean.....Oh dear God, No!"
"Yes, yes, it's what we fear most......Bushy Dwarf Virus! Run!"
